We’re Giving Away SQLSaturday Orlando Vans!

We’re in full marketing mode here in Orlando, looking for ways to grow attendance for our next SQLSaturday coming up on September 27, 2014. What better way to spark some interest than an over the top post about giving every attendee a free SQLSaturday van? I found this design on Fiverr and for $5 they […]

Building The SQLSaturday Orlando Marketing Plan-Part 14

Quick notes today: Event team likes first flyer (retro) better than the second one (doesn’t have enough why, doesn’t use space well). Both can be tweaked. I’m going to order two more. One to try to get a yet different take on the event, one to trial a seminar flyer (should they be same theme? […]

How Much Value Would a SQLSaturday Certificate of Completion Have?

Note: Posted May 27, 2014, additions posted May 28, 2014 further down. I think it’s been discussed a time or two, but the idea of issuing certificates of completion for SQLSaturday came up as an idea on how to increase value/attendance at SQLSaturday Orlando this year. The basic idea is to issue a certificate for […]

Building The SQLSaturday Orlando Marketing Plan-Part 13

Here is the second of the two flyers I ordered from fiverr.com (see the first one here). The center image is from the event site and is of our venue, Seminole State College. It’s clean, but I think the images don’t add a lot of value. Appreciate any feedback you have on this one.

Meetup.com did refund my $19, good! Team oPASS added SQLSaturday #318 to their calendar, you can see it here, or here’s a part of it:     My previous post has the first flyer design, sent that out for feedback, and saw the second one was stalled waiting for feedback from me, so sent that […]

Building The SQLSaturday Orlando Marketing Plan–Part 10

My experiment with Meetup.com hasn’t worked out well so far. I set up the event site and sent it around to the group for discussion, but the next day I had an email from Meetup stating that the event didn’t meet their guidelines because it was a one time event. I modified the meet up […]

Building The SQLSaturday Orlando Marketing Plan–Part 9

I’ve heard more than once that Meetup.com is a good way to reach new people so we’re looking at how to use it effectively and that’s not clear yet. The challenge is that Meetup feels like the destination rather than a pointer to the final event site. That makes sense for a lot of informal […]

Building The SQLSaturday Orlando Marketing Plan–Part 8

One of things I wish PASS provided was at least one template for an event flyer, something that is basically plug in the event information and looks professional. I wouldn’t want to see it’s use mandated, but having at least one available would be nice. Since we don’t have that (yet!), we’re on on our […]
