Presentations

Notes From The May 2014 MagicPASS Meeting

Quick notes: About a dozen people attended, attributed to the combination of having the meeting on a different than usual night mainly, but possibly also to a topic (credit card security) not as compelling as some I delivered two presentations (usually the first one is a video from the Summit) and it was fun to […]

Speaking at MagicPASS Tonight

I’m back at MagicPASS tonight, delivering two presentations – one about credit card security using SQL Server and one about learning plans, both are topics I’m enthusiastic about. It’s a great venue, if you’re in the area hope you can make it.

Presenting at ONETUG on July 10, 2014

I’ll be presenting SQL Performance for Developers to the members of ONETUG on July 10, 2014. I’m going to hit all the basics of performance with a goal of showing the developer audience why things work they way they do. For example, I’ll explain why SELECT * is problematic and why database design matters – […]

Off to Jacksonville for SQLSaturday #298

I’m looking forward to returning to Jacksonville after missing a year (or two?) to speak at SQLSaturday #298. I’m driving up with my family this afternoon to beat traffic and go to the volunteer dinner, then I’ll be at the event all day tomorrow. If you’re in/near Jacksonville I hope you’ll attend (and say hello […]

Speaking at MagicPASS on May 28, 2014

If you’re wondering who the mystery speaker is – it’s me! I’ll be doing two presentations at Magic Pass on May 28, one about credit card security and one about learning plans. All the details at http://magicpass.sqlpass.org/ (or soon will be anyway). If you’re in the Orlando area I hope you’ll attend.

Speaking At the Pinellas SQL Group on August 18, 2014

I’ve committed to presenting but haven’t decided on the presentation yet. It will probably be a remote presentation because it’s a bit of a drive from my home to Clearwater, but then again I like Clearwater Beach so it might turn into a mid week mini vacation trip. We’ll see.

oPASS Tonight! (April 17, 2014)

Speaking at OPASS – April 2014

If my blog history is correct the last time I presented at oPASS was January 2012 – that seems like a long time ago! I’ll be back at oPASS in April doing two presentations (to make up for missing 2013!): Building A Learning Plan What should you learn next? How do you decide which topic […]

Notes From the Orlando Code Camp

Nice to have a SQL track! Looked like it averaged 20-25 attendance per session. Ran smooth, thanks to Esteban Garcia and the volunteers from ONETUG Had a couple great conversations about PCI and security after my presentation Ran into quite a few people I know on the code side, reminds me I need to crossover […]
